DB Cargo is the rail freight company of Deutsche Bahn, Europe's leading freight transport company. The current network includes almost all European countries and can reach 4200 rail sidings and 1200 delivery points, making it possible to transport almost 64.9 million tonnes of steel, including 8 million tonnes of scrap and 18 million tonnes of iron ore. In recent years there has been a strong growth in the steel sector in Italy thanks to the development of the Italian and European network. A continuously expanding network that allows us to offer routes from southern Italy to northern Europe. In Italy there is a vast network that includes five Hubs, more than 50 transhipment centres and private connections distributed throughout Italy. For steel customers, DB Cargo offers a production system for both complete trains and single wagons or groups of wagons. In addition, the problem of the last mile of transport is eliminated through the Railport system, which is available in many Italian and European locations. Railports allow goods to be transshipped between two different carriers, combining the advantages of road and rail transport to reach customers not connected to the railway. The steel sector has always been a reference market for DB Cargo. This is why in the last year there has been a strong push to modernize the wagon fleet, equipping wagons with electronic devices to transport steel safely
